Our Story
Established in 1995 under the vision of renowned golf course architect Arthur Hills, River Downs Golf Club was created to offer a premium golfing experience rooted in craftsmanship, integrity, and community. Over the years, River Downs has grown into one of Maryland’s most scenic and welcoming destinations — a place where championship golf meets a relaxed, inclusive atmosphere.
We proudly operate as a public / semi-private facility, inviting both local members and visiting players to enjoy the course, practice areas, and clubhouse hospitality.
Course Architect
The layout at River Downs was designed by Arthur Hills, a master of balancing playability with challenge. His design embraces the natural contours and elevation of Finksburg’s rolling hills, blending strategic bunkering, risk-reward shot options, and panoramic beauty across all 18 holes.
Every round showcases Hills’ signature approach — rewarding precision, creativity, and a love for the game.
